Georgia Quarterback Denied Exit Rumor And Says He…

Despite recent ambiguity about his long-term future at UGA, Georgia quarterback Carson Beck stated on Sunday that he will play in the 2023 Orange Bowl against Florida State (13-0) on Dec. 30 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.

Beck told reporters about his decision during a fan event at an Academy Sports and Outdoors in Atlanta, claiming he assumed everyone knew he’d be playing in the Bulldogs’ playoff bowl game.

“Yeah, I’m playing in the game,” Beck stated, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “I mean, unless they don’t, I think people know that.” But, officially, I am participating in the game.”

Georgia coach Kirby Smart will have his starting quarterback for the team’s final game of the season in ’23. When asked about the look of ’24,’ Beck regarded it as the “hardest decision of [his] entire life.” Rumors circulated that the senior would declare for the NFL draft or enter the transfer portal.

Beck, who just ended his fourth season at UGA, passed for 3,728 yards, 22 touchdowns, and six interceptions in his debut season as a starter, taking over for two-time CFP national champion Stetson Bennett. Because of the COVID-19 epidemic, he has one additional year of college eligibility.

Georgia appeared to be on track for one of the four coveted College Football Playoff berths until Alabama (12-1) defeated UGA in this year’s SEC championship game, dropping the Bulldogs to No. 6 and raising the Crimson Tide to No. 4 in the final rankings revealed on Dec. 3.
