Gary Rowett provides positive injury update on Alex Pritchard

Gary Rowett was able to deliver a favorable injury report on Alex Pritchard ahead of his trip to Leicester City.

The Blues’ midfielder last appeared in March against Middlesbrough, playing 78 minutes in a narrow defeat to Micahel Carrick’s team.

This was the 30-year-old’s fifth appearance for B9 since his permanent transfer from Sunderland in January, but he had missed the previous three due to injury.

Speaking to the media at the Birmingham City Elite Performance and Innovation Centre, the Interim Manager confirmed Pritchard’s availability for selection at King Power Stadium on Saturday, April 6, kick-off 3pm, and explained his absence from the Easter Monday win over Preston North End at St. Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park.

“He exercised on Sunday, and we thought it was a little early to put him back in the squad. We now have a reasonably large squad, and by no fault of our own, we have quite a few players in the same region of the pitch.

“In terms of the bench, I occasionally have to make wise decisions, which may entail leaving one or two out through no fault of their own, but simply because I don’t need these types of guys.

“We have to find methods to make wise judgments, but he is one, and with his experience and quality, there will be times when you need that guy. Certainly, he will be accessible to Leicester.”
