Four-Star Defensive Lineman Stays Home and Commits to the Dawgs

In June, Kirby Smart and his team were quite active in the recruiting process, with numerous pledges coming in.

The staff has traveled far and wide to recruit essential players. This week, however, they struck gold close to home with the commitment of four-star Prince Avenue Christian standout Christian Garrett.

Garrett, who stands 6’3 and weighs 285 pounds, is the #19 player in Georgia and the #15 defensive lineman according to 247Sports’ aggregate rankings. To be fair, he isn’t the Bulldogs’ top target this cycle. Garrett also had offers from Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Miami, and USC.

Garrett has sturdy feet for his size and a nice hip bend. He also plays with his eyes raised, locating the ball and moving laterally to make plays. Garrett, based on what I’ve seen so far, will most certainly need to improve his hand placement and first step, but he has the ability to play every down inside or slide out to a defensive end in larger run-first packages.

Georgia currently has 13 commitments for the 2025 class, although several players are still hearing from other programs. The Bulldogs are also in contact with a number of great players who are either uncommitted or committed to other programs, notably the defensive line. While the Dawgs’ class is presently ranked eighth in the nation, there is every reason to believe Kirby Smart will continue his record of national top three recruiting classes. Until later.
