Four Burnley players are anticipated to miss the Everton Cup match as Vincent Kompany assesses the risk to Lyle Foster

Lyle Foster’s availability for Burnley’s cup match against Everton tonight is not guaranteed.

Due to illness, the striker was a major loss for the Clarets on Saturday as they lost 2-1 to Bournemouth.

When asked if Foster will probably be back in the mix for Burnley’s Carabao Cup fourth round matchup at Goodison Park, manager Vincent Kompany could not give any guarantees.

“I hope so, but we’ll see,” he said.

“The main goal is to avoid taking any chances and hoping that the disease will benefit him in any way.

“However, I’m pretty sure it won’t be too bad.”

Johann Gudmundsson, who made his injury comeback against the Cherries over the weekend, should be available. Following his one-match suspension, Connor Roberts also makes a comeback.

Michael Obafemi, Manuel Benson, Jordan Beyer, and Hjalmar Ekdal are all anticipated to stay out of action.

Thus far this season, Kompany has made extensive roster changes and utilized the Carabao Cup as an opportunity.

In response to the question of whether that would probably happen again, Kompany said, “I wouldn’t term it this way. Though I wouldn’t describe it as such, there are undoubtedly enough players that could gain from this game.

“It’s a chance for us to put on our boots again and walk on the grass, which is the ideal way to communicate,”

“This is their chance to get back out on the grass as soon as possible because, in the end, it’s still the team talking and still the team conveying a message, regardless of who plays.”
