Former West Ham striker declares retirement

Stanislas has acknowledged that his injuries have taken a toll on him and that he is now “at peace” with his choice to hang up his boots.

It follows the wide receiver’s departure from Bournemouth at the conclusion of the last campaign after nine years on the South Coast.
Due to a back ailment, he hadn’t played for the Cherries since last November.

In an interview with Sky Sports, he said, “I’ve been thinking about it a lot before the season ended last year.”

However, the moment has come to make my retirement public and let everyone know about it so I can, in essence, put it to rest.

I’ve had a lot of years throughout the past few of years. Throughout my career, I have occasionally missed games due to aches and pains, but over the past two years, they have become more frequent.

Last year, I slid a disc in my back and attempted to control it, but it didn’t really get better.

“Due to that, it’s taken a while, but I finally decided to make peace with it a while ago,” the speaker said.

Stanislas graduated from the West Ham academy and began his professional career with the Hammers before joining the Clarets in 2011.

Before leaving to join Bournemouth in 2014, he made 101 appearances for the team and scored nine goals.

While progressing through West Ham’s youth systems, he also spent some time on loan with Southend United.

Stanislas competed for England at the Under-20 and Under-21 levels but was never given a senior squad cap.
