Former Town winger announces retirement

Paul Anderson, a former Town winger, has announced his retirement at age 35.

Anderson was with the Blues from July 2013 to August 2015, joining from Bristol City in a deal that saw Jay Emmanuel-Thomas leave. He made 45 starts and 25 substitute appearances, scoring seven goals, the most famous of which was Town’s equaliser in the 1-1 2014/15 play-off semi-final first leg draw with Norwich City at Portman Road.

Anderson, who was born in Melton Mowbray, joined Liverpool’s academy after training with Hull City.

Following loan spells with Swansea and Nottingham Forest, he made the permanent switch to the City Ground in 2009, before joining the Robins for the 2012 season.

Anderson, who had gained England U19 caps, signed for Bradford before moving on to Northampton, Mansfield, Plymouth, and ultimately returning to the Cobblers, where he left in the summer of 2020.
