Former player makes Leicester City admission as club ‘goes up a notch’

James Maddison, who joined Tottenham from Leicester City in the summer, made an immediate impression.

Spurs sealed the 26-year-old’s transfer after City was relegated from the Premier League. Maddison, who has three goals and five assists in nine league games, has established himself as a vital member of the Spurs team very fast.

Spurs are at the top of the table and have not lost a league game. Part of that form can be attributed to the former City star, who has emerged as the league’s most important player.

“That’s the goal,” he said to Sky Sports following Monday night’s 2-0 victory over Fulham for Spurs. “I’m grateful for the significant compliment.

“Coming to a club like Tottenham, certainly a greater club in stature than Leicester. Of course, I had a great experience at Leicester, but when you go to one of these elite teams, the pressure and scrutiny increase, and I enjoy and thrive in that environment. I perform at my best at that time.”
