Following Miami’s Pinstripe Bowl loss to Rutgers, former Ohio State quarterback slams the Hurricanes.

To say Miami’s 2023 college football season was a disaster would be an understatement.

The Hurricanes dropped three of their last four games, including defeats to ranked Florida State and Louisville, before bowing out in the Pinstripe Bowl to Rutgers.

Not that the game wasn’t exciting. Rutgers triumphed 31-24. Still, Miami was once considered a college football superpower. Now, in a mid-tier bowl game, “The U” is losing against the Scarlet Knights.

That’s a fall from grace deserving of condemnation, and the Hurricanes got enough of it on social media. Former Ohio State quarterback Cardale Jones specifically targeted Miami.

Man, I feel bad for the recruits going to Miami U for NIL…….. bad staff, no stability within program and one of the worst college home game atmospheres. Chasing the money isn’t always the answer. But good luck

To Jones’ point, Miami head coach Mario Cristobal is now 12-13 with a bowl game defeat in two seasons as the Hurricanes’ head coach. At the same time, he has a top-five 2024 recruiting class that includes two five-star players.

Because it isn’t Miami’s on-field production that is attracting top recruits, NIL deals have played a huge role in Cristobal’s recruiting success.
