A former Nebraska running back has announced his retirement from the NFL.
Rex Burkhead has retired from the NFL after ten seasons.
During his ten-season career, he played for the Cincinnati Bengals, New England Patriots, and Houston Texans. The Texas native won the Super Bowl with the Patriots in 2018.
Burkhead finished his professional career with 1,908 running yards and 17 rushing touchdowns. He also recorded 192 receptions for 1,534 yards and nine touchdowns.
He made his announcement on social media.

There are many people I would like to thank… I’d like to (thank) all my friends, fans, and other family who have cheered me throughout my career. From my days as a Plano Wildcat, Husker, Bengal, Patriot, and Texan, you all have encouraged me every single day, and I appreciate it from the bottom of my heart.
The running back attended Nebraska from 2009 until 2012. He finished his four-year career with 3,329 rushing yards and 30 touchdowns.
