Jordan Rhodes, a former Ipswich Town attacker, is now a free agent after his contract with recently relegated League One club Huddersfield Town expired.

The 34-year-old spent the 2023/24 season on loan with Blackpool, where he scored 15 goals in 32 games and helped the club finish seventh in the third division.

Rhodes is one of eight Terriers players who have been released, marking the end of his second term with the club after joining from Sheffield Wednesday in 2021.

He leaves the John Smith’s Stadium with 97 goals for the West Yorkshire club in all competitions, ranking sixth in their all-time goalscoring table.

The Terriers were relegated from the Championship this season after placing 23rd in the table. They were defeated by the Blues on the last day, resulting in Kieran McKenna’s side’s promotion to the Premier League

Last week, they hired Michael Duff, who previously led Barnsley and Swansea City, as their new head coach, as they prepare for their first League One season in 12 years.

Rhodes made only 10 substitute appearances for Town, scoring one goal, until Roy Keane allowed him to go for £350,000 in 2009.
