Former Ipswich Star Joins League Side On A Permanent Deal

Jordan Rhodes, a former Ipswich Town attacker, has signed a permanent contract with League One club Blackpool, after spending the 2023-24 season on loan.

The 34-year-old has signed a one-year contract after being released by relegated Huddersfield Town, which marks the end of his second term with the Terriers, having rejoined in 2021.

Rhodes scored 15 goals for Neil Critchley’s Blackpool, who finished eighth in the third division, almost missing out on the play-offs.

On signing permanently for the Tangerines, he said: “I’m very thankful to the head coach, the owner, and the sporting director for giving me the opportunity to get to this point,”

“I feel extremely fortunate to get another opportunity to play here in Blackpool. I enjoyed being here every day last season and consider myself fortunate that I may be able to do it again this season.

“It’s a place I feel really accustomed to, it brings the best out of me and hopefully together we can kick on again this coming season.”

Rhodes made only 10 substitute appearances for Town, scoring one goal, before manager Roy Keane let him leave for £350,000 in 2009.

He joins Matthew Pennington and Dominic Thompson, two former Town players, at Bloomfield Road.
