Former Ipswich defender part ways with newly-promoted team

Bailey Clements, a former Ipswich Town defender, has been released by recently promoted League Two club Chesterfield.

The 23-year-old joined the Spireites in the summer of 2022 to rejoin with his former Blues manager, Paul Cook, after being released by Town.

In his debut season with the club, he helped them reach the National League play-off final, where they were defeated on penalties by Notts County.

Clements then spent time on loan at fellow National League club Eastleigh in the first half of the 2023/24 season.

He returned to Chesterfield in January to assist them gain promotion to League Two for the first time since 2018, lifting the fifth-tier title.

Clements made nine appearances for Town after going through the academy, which he joined at the age of seven.

Harley Curtis, a former Town academy player, was also released after one season at the SMH Group Stadium.
