The Tigers boss continues to be linked with every vacant job in the EFL

Following his departure from the MKM Stadium two weeks ago, former Hull City manager Liam Rosenior is still being associated with empty managerial positions in the Championship and League One.

Rosenior is claimed to have turned down overtures from Plymouth Argyle late last week, while serious interest has been expressed by Norwich City, Sunderland, and now Birmingham City.

The Blues, who were relegated to League One on the final day of the Championship season after Plymouth defeated Rosenior’s City 1-0 at Home Park, are reportedly seeking for a replacement for Tony Mowbray, who is still recovering from sickness.

Former Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds United player Carlton Palmer, who supported Rosenior for the Stadium of Light job earlier this month, now believes a St Andrew’s transfer would be a smart one for the 39-year-old if he wants to make a quick return to the dugout.

“I really have a lot of time for Tony Mowbray as a bloke, and it’s sad to see, and we all hope he recovers from his illness well,” Palmer stated to FLW. “So, due to the sacking of John Eustace and the situation with Wayne Rooney, Birmingham City was relegated to League One.”

“Birmingham City will be an appealing prospect for anyone since they should have the resources to kick on and win promotion back to the Championship. It remains to be seen if they can persuade Liam Rosenior to drop down to League One through a project.

“It would be an appealing proposition; you would expect Birmingham City to be at the top of the table, vying for promotion back to the Championship next season.”

“But I’m sure Liam Rosenior has cut his crop in the Championship, he’s shown he’s capable of managing in the Championship, so I think he’d like to stay in the Championship in some form, but Birmingham would be an appealing proposition for him, and I’m sure Tom Wagner could tempt Liam if he’s given the tools to do the job and get them promoted back on the first try.

“As I have stated, I believe there will be a lot of interest in Liam Rosenior; the next job he takes is critical for him and his career, though you can’t say anything other than what a tremendous job he did at Hull. Whichever team gets him needs to get him in right away so he can start working.

“If it’s Birmingham City, then there’s a lot of work to do with the financial fair play with them going down to League One, players leaving and the recruitment of players for the season, but this would be an unbelievable appointment if Birmingham City could pull this off.”
