Former Hogs players got contacted and signed as free agents

After nearly six full rounds, a Hog was selected in the 2024 NFL draft.

The Jaguars selected Cam Little with the 212th pick, followed by Beaux Limmer a few picks later. Unfortunately, that was all she wrote about the topic, as the seventh round ended with no other Arkansas players named.

However, teams quickly contacted the now-former Razorback free agents. The first name thrown out was Dwight McGlothern’s. Within hours of the draft’s conclusion, McGlorthern was signed by the Minnesota Vikings, becoming the first free agent hog. It’s not surprising given that he was ranked high enough after the NFL Combine to be drafted, with some projecting him as a top 200 prospect in the draft. Nonetheless, the Vikings acted quickly to sign the highest-rated cornerback in the SEC according to Pro Football Focus.

Not too long afterward, five Arkansas players started to receive calls of their own.

1. John Morgan III

John Morgan III is headed to New England following 11 games with 15 tackles, four tackles for loss, two sacks, and a forced fumble. Morgan only played one season for the Hogs after moving from Pitt.

2. Antonio Grier Jr.

Grier committed to the Razorbacks in 2023 after leaving South Florida, and it appears like he will return there. Grier has allegedly signed with Tampa Bay. During his career at Arkansas, he recorded 36 tackles, a pick-six, and a pass defense.

3. Alfahiym Walcott

Walcott is the only free agent who has supposedly been contacted but has yet to sign a contract. However, he was invited to the Bills’ rookie camp with the hopes of landing a position this summer. He was one half of the Baylor transfer tandem last season, finishing with 56 tackles, 34 solo, five pass deflections, and three interceptions, one of which was a pick-six against FIU.

4. Brady Latham

Latham has been a mainstay on the offensive line for the past four years. During his college career, he started 47 games and received a 78.7 pass-blocking grade from Pro Football Focus. He has reportedly signed with the Jets to resume his career blocking for future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodger.

5. Trajan Jeffcoat

Trajan Jeffcoat’s signing with the Saints appears to have aroused excitement among fans. Jeffcoat came to Arkansas as a transfer from Missouri. He enjoyed a breakout season for the Tigers in 2021 but never quite returned to that level. However, he made 16 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, and four sacks for the Hogs.
