Former EPL player is among Birmingham’s top candidates to succeed John Eustace.

When John Eustace, a legend of Manchester United, leaves DC United, Wayne Rooney is at the top of Birmingham’s list of replacements. Eustace is being pursued by Premier League teams.

Should John Eustace ever decide to quit Birmingham, Wayne Rooney is still near the top of the club’s list of potential managers.

The former England captain still has close ties to the English game despite leaving his position as manager of Major League Soccer team DC United.

After leading Birmingham, a team co-owned by NFL legend Tom Brady, to sixth place in the Championship after 11 games, Eustace’s reputation is on the rise.

The 43-year-old took over in the summer of 2022 and guided the team to a comfortable existence despite the club’s financial instability.

He has now presided over a solid start to the club’s maiden season under American ownership. Eustace’s current contract expires in 2025, but Birmingham are sixth in the Championship going into the international break even though he has not yet received an offer to extend it.

After the third goal in the 3-1 victory over West Bromwich Albion, he showed signs of extreme emotion.

Brady and the seven-time Super Bowl champion were in attendance at the home game against Leeds in August as part of the new ownership group.

“I just feel like now is the appropriate time for me to return to England, first of all to see my family,” she said. They haven’t been around for a while.

‘And then, what lies ahead? whether chances present themselves? I’ve seen a lot of media reports. I have nothing scheduled.

“I’m returning there to visit my family.” Naturally, I’ll take a look at anything that comes up in October or November.
