David Marshall, a former goalkeeper for Cardiff City, Derby County, and QPR, has announced his retirement.

The 39-year-old goalie has decided to retire.

Marshall, who has 47 caps for the Scotland national team and 670 appearances in his career, will now be Hibernian’s technical performance manager.

He told Hibs’ website: “Having decided to retire from football, I’m thrilled to be given the opportunity in this role at the Football Club.” Over the previous two seasons, I’ve gotten to know and understand the Club, and I’m excited to work closely with Malky Mackay to develop a climate that can produce success both on and off the pitch.

“This new role allows me to work across several performance divisions within the Football Club and learn from Malky, who has years of expertise in the game.

“The supporters’ support will be critical to our success, and I am confident that you will be there for the team, David Gray and his coaching staff. I am excited to get started on the 2024/25 campaign.”
