Former Chiefs player explains accidental disrespect

Former Chiefs cornerback Charvarius Ward is retracting some disparaging remarks about the Chiefs made before the Super Bowl.

As San Francisco prepared to face Kansas City, Ward was queried about his involvement on both teams. He stated that being on the 49ers was better in “every way,” prompting the ire of his former fans.

Appearing on the Up and Adams show with Kay Adams, Ward clarified those comments to assure Chiefs fans he meant nothing but love.

Charvarius Ward Clarifies 49ers vs. Chiefs Comments

Ward played his first four seasons in Kansas City before being traded to San Francisco, where he has stayed for the past two years. Ward has 381 career tackles, 10 interceptions, and three forced fumbles, and he is largely regarded as one of the top cornerbacks in the game.

“I love Kansas City, and I had a fantastic time,” Ward explained. He explained that he didn’t have time to “simmer down” and consider his statement before the Super Bowl.

“Kansas City was an excellent location for me,” Ward concluded. “I loved it there.”

He won a Super Bowl with the Chiefs and has now appeared in two, losing the most recent one against his former team. Ward adores the fan base and the city, and any genuine Chiefs fan will recognize his services to the team.

Ward may be on a different sideline now, but his legacy as a Super Bowl champion and winner will live on in Chiefs Kingdom. If he stays in San Francisco, maybe we’ll see these teams face off in the big game again.
