Former Burnley man sacked by League Two side

After a difficult start to the season, League Two MK Dons have fired former Burnley player Graham Alexander.

Alexander took over as manager of Stadium MK over the summer as the team attempted to recover from being demoted to the third division.

However, they are now 16th in the standings and have lost all eight of their league games.

The Milton Keynes Dons Football Club has parted ways with head coach Graham Alexander, according to a club statement. Chris Lucketti, the assistant head coach, will also leave Stadium MK.

“The club would like to express its gratitude to Graham and Chris for their commitment and relentless work while employed at Stadium MK. The MK Dons organization sends its warmest wishes to them as they depart.

Alexander spent four years at Turf Moor and made over 150 appearances. He was a member of the team that earned promotion to the Premier League in 2009.

Before hanging up his boots to pursue a career in management, he played more than 1000 competitive games over stints with Preston, Luton, and other teams.

Before moving to Stadium MK, the 52-year-old worked as a manager at Fleetwood, Scunthorpe, Salford, and Motherwell.

After Max Dean had scored a hat trick, the League Two team was held to a 2-2 draw on Saturday, which served as his final game in charge.

Alexander stated after the match: “It should be three points in the bag without a doubt.

But we often manage to put ourselves in a bad position. We are causing it on ourselves by making simple mistakes in judgment.

“The game ought to be over. We have opportunity to finish the game, but we’re not acting wisely.

“At 2-1, there is a complete panic. I won’t lie; after the first one, I knew what was going to happen.

“These are men who have played 300 or 400 games of football, not a bunch of kids who have never played the game before.”
