Following the Colts’ defeat, both Patriots quarterbacks had unspoken thoughts

What could have been a perfectly pleasant trip to Germany was ruined in Week 10 when the New England Patriots lost to the Indianapolis Colts.

When the Patriots regained possession of the ball two minutes later, Bailey Zappe made a horrendous game-ending interception for New England, negating the potential for Mac Jones to start the game with a potentially disastrous interception.

The New England Patriots’ defeat by the Indianapolis Colts in Week 10 marred what could have been an absolutely delightful trip to Germany. Two minutes later, the Patriots got the ball back, and Bailey Zappe made a huge game-ending interception for New England, eliminating the chance that Mac Jones would make a potentially disastrous opening-drive interception.

Zappe’s final throw to Demario Douglas was obviously problematic because there was no call. While on the field, Zappe was searching for a flag and was obviously thinking about the referees, but he decided against speaking up. Considering that he essentially underthrew the ball into quadruple coverage, this is wise. There would have been no calls, not even for Tom Brady.

As the starting quarterback earlier in the day, Mac Jones held a brief press conference of his own later in the afternoon. When asked about the Patriots’ lack of aggression on the game’s last play of the first half, Jones appeared to doubt the playcall.

Jones had a tearful day on the sidelines as he completed 15 of 20 passes for 170 yards to end the game. Although it wasn’t the first conversation Jones had with a coach this season, it may have been the last following his interception in the red zone.
