Following a brutal hit on D’Andre Swift, Eagles supporters all yelled the same thing

Against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, Philadelphia Eagles running back D’Andre Swift took a hard hit that some fans feel he shouldn’t have.

The 49ers destroyed the Eagles 42–19 at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

By halftime, the Niners had taken command of the game, and halfway through the fourth quarter, they had all but won it.

With little over five minutes remaining, 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy and wide receiver Deebo Samuel combined to throw the game-winning 46-yard touchdown that put the Eagles behind 42-19.

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni continued to play his starting lineup on the subsequent drive despite the large margin of victory.

At the 49ers’ 27, the Eagles found themselves in a 3rd-and-9 situation. QB Jalen Hurts attempted to find Swift for a brief gain. 49ers cornerback Deommodore Lenoir delivered a brutal hit to Swift that took out both the ball and his spirit.

Regarding the action, a number of Eagles supporters and even impartial onlookers had the same thought: why were Swift and the other starters still in the game? The game was almost determined, and the players were taking a risk with their bodies. One example of this was the Swift hit.

Reporters questioned Sirianni on the choice to play the starters all the way through. In an otherwise lopsided game, the Eagles coach characterized it as the team wanting to show some fight.

Sirianni stated, “Yes, we will fight to the very end,” according to Alexis Chassen on Bleeding Green Nation.

With just 13 rushing yards on 6 carries, Swift ended the game. Christian McCaffrey, a running back for the 49ers, more than doubled the Eagles’ running total of 46 yards on just 17 rushes with 93 yards.
