“Fit ones more”: Huddersfield Town star can deliver much-accepted Championship spark

David Kasumu is in contention to start against Southampton this weekend, having been an unused substitute in Huddersfield Town’s 1-0 loss at Hull City before the international break

Huddersfield Town’s chances of earning a lot of points from their next two games are slim. In the Championship right now, Southampton and Sunderland are ranked fourth and sixth, respectively. By May of the following year, both teams appear to be in the mix for promotions.

However, it is anticipated that Terriers manager Darren Moore will have a larger selection of players available for the matchup with the Saints on Saturday. Tom Edwards and Josh Koroma are urging for recalls, and Danny Ward might be considered for the starting lineup by Moore following his dismissal of an Achilles injury. Pat Jones’s (hamstring), Delano Burgzorg’s (knee), and Jack Rudoni’s (foot) health remain seriously questioned.

David Kasumu’s return to the matchday squad for the away match against Hull City prior to the international break was a huge plus. At the MKM Stadium, he was not utilized as a substitute as Town experienced late heartbreak.

It has been more than two months since Kasumu last competed for Town. During a testing phase, his persistence and capacity to stop play would have aided their cause.

With captain Jonathan Hogg suspended and players Jack Rudoni and Kasumu missing games due to injuries, the Terriers have been lacking in options in center midfield. The last two games, Rarmani Edmonds-Green has started, attempting to add another degree of defense.

Moore stated prior to the trip to Hull that Edmonds-Green was “probably a centre-back by trade but he can play in midfield, right-back, or right wing-back.” “When you talk to him, he really, truly gets the game. In terms of performances, he’s someone who wishes to make up a little bit for lost time.

“I have examined him as a player and have not placed a ceiling on him. There has always been a player there, but we haven’t really seen his greatest side yet.

“What we are trying to do with Reg is get him to a level where he is performing consistently.”

Kasumu and Edmonds-Green are unable to address Town’s midfield creativity problem. It’s only one of several areas the team needs to focus on during the January transfer window.

However, Kasumu, who hasn’t played under Moore, might provide them with a much-needed boost in the near future. When things are not going well, you want a workhorse like him in the trenches. His zeal and dedication inspire other participants and have the power to energize the audience. Town is in dire need of folks like him right now.
