Nottingham Forest’s Premier League campaign in 2024/25 has begun with a bang.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s players are still unbeaten in their first three games, with five points already on the board.

This follows a bustling summer transfer window at the City Ground, with players arriving and departing until the last minute.

The Reds added double-digit new players, but Forest were unable to sign a new striker, which may have disappointed fans.

One of their striker targets has recently spoken with the director of his current club about why he was hesitant to transfer to the City Ground.

What Feyenoord’s director said about Santiago Gimenez to Forest

Forest had a number of strikers on their radar this summer as they looked to improve their top-line options.

Eddie Nketiah was connected with Forest, but the former Arsenal player has joined Crystal Palace after his intended transfer to the City Ground fell through.

Then there was Santiago Gimenez, who ultimately rejected the move to Forest following a rollercoaster ride for the fans.

With the window closed, Feyenoord’s director Dennis te Kloese revealed what Gimenez was thinking about potentially joining the Reds.

“I think that Santi has shown in the past two years that he is a very important player for Feyenoord,” according to FR Fans.

“The statistics speak for him. I believe he had a tremendous first half of the season last year, making him extremely valuable (to other clubs) in the second half of the season. I believe the expectation was that several clubs other than Nottingham Forest would attend.”

Chris Wood is proving more than good enough for Forest

Following an impressive 2023/24 season, Wood has made a strong start to the new season at Forest.

In his first three games, the New Zealand striker has already scored two goals, which will reassure Forest fans.

This comes after one Dutch commentator suggested that Gimenez was not good enough for Forest.

The only remaining question for some fans is where they will go if Wood sustains an injury, with Taiwo Awoniyi struggling for form.
