Fan Favorite Striking Headlines at Chiefs’ OTAs

2023 preseason star WR Nikko Remigio rapidly became a fan favorite in Chiefs Kingdom last year, and he’s again vying for a spot on the 53-man roster as Kansas City concludes up OTAs (offseason team exercises) and prepares for mandatory minicamp.

Many expected Remigio to make the roster last year, but he was eventually waived with an injury designation and placed on the practice squad. He’s off to a strong start this summer, and the coaching staff is taking notice.

Matt Nagy, speaking with the media after the second portion of OTAs, praised Remigio. The Chiefs’ last optional portion is June 4–7. Remigio appears to be a promising player.

Matt Nagy Praises Chiefs WR Nikko Remigio at OTAs

Remigio excels at practice, works hard in meetings, and adds value to special teams. He tallied 71 receiving yards in his only preseason game last season. The Chiefs appear to have their top six receivers locked in, but Remigio appears to be the next man up if someone goes down or Rashee Rice is suspended.

Montrell Washington has also impressed coaches. He and Remigio may be vying for the seventh place in the WR room, creating an intriguing duel throughout camp.

Hollywood Brown, Xavier Worthy, Rashee Rice, Justin Watson, Skyy Moore, and Kadarius Toney are all expected to make the squad. That’s already six names, but with Toney not participating in OTAs yet, Remigio got a chance to shine.

If you believe Nagy, he shined. The Chiefs have a unique opportunity to become the first team in NFL history to win three consecutive Super Bowls, and they will need a strong locker room to accomplish so. Remigio is clearly becoming an important component of the organization’s ambitions, so I hope he continues his excellent job this summer.
