Fabrizio Romano: Town Loanee Targetted By Many European Sides

According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, several European teams are keeping an eye on Ipswich Town loanee Omari Hutchinson’s improvement.

The 20-year-old is now on loan at Portman Road and has only started nine Championship games, primarily as a substitute. However, his effect has been impressive, with five goals and four assists for the Blues in 32 appearances in his first full season of senior football.

In February, the versatile attacker has been in excellent form, scoring or assisting in five consecutive games, including stoppage-time goals against West Brom, Rotherham United, and West Brom

Some fans have questioned if Town will be able to keep him beyond this season, but Romano has revealed that overseas clubs are interested in signing him once his contract in Suffolk expires, adding that parent club Chelsea is ‘in control of the matter’.

Hutchinson’s future is uncertain, as Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino faces pressure after Sunday’s Carabao Cup loss to Liverpool.

Following Todd Boehly’s acquisition of the club in 2022, the Premier League heavyweights have been among Europe’s largest spenders, making it tough for young players to break into the first-team squad, many of whom are now on loan, including Hutchinson.

The Jamaican international has made one senior appearance for them, coming off the bench in a 1-0 home defeat to Manchester City in January 2023.
