Fabrizio: Ipswich Town Rekindle Interest On Championship Side Winger

Town have reportedly revived their interest in Hull City winger Jaden Philogene.

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano on his Here We Go podcast, Philogene’s former club Aston Villa included a buyback clause in the deal that saw the 22-year-old join the Tigers for £5 million last summer, but other clubs, including Town, were also interested, with the Blues eyeing the former England U21 international prior to his move to East Yorkshire.

“There is also interest from numerous Premier League clubs, namely West Ham and Ipswich Town. “These two clubs have already contacted the player’s side to discuss the terms of the deal in this case,” Romano stated.

“Remember that the player may be able to return to Aston Villa in the future. Philogene’s contract has a matching clause, which allows Villa to bring the player back in the future.

“Let’s see what’s going to happen in terms of negotiations, but for sure, it’s going to be one to watch in the next few weeks.”

La Liga juggernauts Barcelona was rumored to be interested in Philogene earlier this week, and if that is true, they would very definitely outbid any of the other obvious competitors.

Londoner Philogene, who has two years left on his Hull deal with an option for another season, joined Villa’s academy from the Pro:Direct Academy and spent time on loan with Stoke and Cardiff City before moving to the MKM Stadium.

Philogene is the second Hull City player thought to be interested in the Blues, with talks over centre-back Jacob Greaves allegedly underway.
