FA Youth Cup match at home between the Clarets and Birmingham

The U18 Professional Development League Cup will see Burnley play Birmingham City at home on Saturday morning.

We will face the same team again before the year is out as we were drawn to meet each other in the FA Youth Cup’s third round.

We have been picked to play a team in the same league as us, but with one less game played and five more points than us—that is, 10 points ahead of us with twelve games played.

Their lone league loss of the year occurred two weeks ago against Barnsley, who are now in second position. We have only faced them once this season, at Birmingham, and we lost 3-0.

We do, however, intend to advance in the cup tournament, and a victory would at the very least match our season-long run. After a 2-2 draw, we defeated Norwich 7-6 on penalties in the third round. However, we were very unfortunate to lose 1-0 to West Ham in the following round, as they went on to score nineteen goals overall in the competition, and ultimately defeated Arsenal 5-1 at the Emirates Stadium in the trophy final.

Participants in this season’s competition must have been born on or before September 1, 2008, and on or after September 1, 2005. Except in cases where both clubs agree differently, all third-round ties must be played by Saturday, December 16 at 7 p.m. The Lancashire FA County Ground in Leyland, where the two matches from the previous season were played, is most likely the location for this season’s matchup with Birmingham.
