Exclusive: Nottingham Forest set to part ways with £60million rated star to close rivals

Nottingham Forest are allegedly eager to talk a potential trade with Tottenham for midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White.

Forest have had a rough season, but they should survive relegation by the skin of their teeth unless there is a huge goal differential swing on the last day.

Whether they avoid relegation, it appears that an offer of around £60 million will be sufficient to persuade Forest to let Gibbs-White leave.

Tottenham are said to be dominating the race to recruit the highly rated 24-year-old, despite the fact that Newcastle United are also interested.

After making big expenditures in their squad recently, Forest are considering selling Gibbs-White in order to balance their finances.

On the most recent episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, transfer specialist Pete O’Rourke stated that Forest may have to sell one of their star players this summer in order to balance their budget.

Tottenham want Morgan Gibbs-White

Forest have struggled this season, but Gibbs-White has been a standout, scoring five goals and assisting ten times in 36 Premier League outings.

His play has caught the attention of Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United, both of whom are looking to compete for Champions League spots in the Premier League next season.

Those teams’ loftier goals are understood to align with Gibbs-White’s ambition to establish a case for an England call.

A £60 million sale would net Forest a handsome return on the player and position them well for a push up the Premier League table if they make it through the final day.

Forest have been penalized with a four-point punishment for violating the Premier League’s profit and sustainability criteria, and a major sale is just what the doctor ordered for their condition as the league continues to crack down on minor infractions.

This has swung the scales in Forest’s favour, since one of their standouts has been one of Nuno Espirito Santo’s first names on the team sheet.

Willing to pay the price

Ange Postecoglou has grown more dissatisfied with his squad and Tottenham as a whole, and he could be the driving force behind slightly more free spending than Spurs fans have come to anticipate from their team.

With Newcastle United also interested in the player, it appears that the £60 million valuation will need to be satisfied before Forest considers a move.
