Exclusive: Nottingham Forest face another severe points deduction

Nottingham Forest face another four-point deduction next season and will have to sell players to prevent a “serious” breach of financial rules.

Speaking on the most recent episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior journalist Pete O’Rourke said that if Forest breaches PSR again, they would most certainly face the same punishment as this season.

This means that players will have to be sold at the City Ground this summer to raise funds that can subsequently be reinvested.

O’Rourke stated that there are “definitely” fears within the club about further PSR breaches next season, with their accounts set to be released at the end of June.

Nottingham Forest points deduction threat emerges

With the club having already received a four-point deduction, they are now mindful of the looming danger of punishment for excessive spending.

That early deduction pushed Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad into a relegation battle, where they are currently only three points above the relegation zone.

Forest are expected to sell numerous important players in order to balance the finances following the previous £34.5 million PSR breach.

Some of the club’s finest performers, including Morgan Gibbs-White, are expected to leave this summer as the club seeks to raise funds for reinvestment, with Football Insider reporting that the midfielder has a £50 million asking price.

Football Insider sources also revealed that at least one of the club’s star players will have to leave the City Ground before 30 June to avoid a new points deduction.

The club will be desperate to avoid further deductions and will not make the same mistakes made with Brennan Johnson’s late sale last summer.
