Exclusive: Burnley aiming to lift Barnsley ace to EPL as West Brom also interested

Callum Styles, a Hungarian international who plays for Barnsley, is being pursued by numerous clubs in anticipation of a potential January transfer window, sources have told TEAMtalk.

Styles returned to Oakwell this summer after spending the previous season on loan at Millwall, where he was able to remain in the Championship following Barnsley’s relegation. Now, he is gaining notice once more.

The versatile 23-year-old, who will represent Hungary in the Euros next summer, has reportedly attracted interest from recently promoted Premier League teams Burnley and Sheffield United as well as Championship team West Bromwich Albion, according to information provided to TEAMtalk.

We can also disclose that European parties interested in Styles include Union Berlin, Anderlecht, Braga, and Lens.

Styles may have a high ceiling to aim for because Union Berlin, Braga, and Lens are all playing in Europe’s premier tournament this season and are in the same Champions League group.

The midfield player played 47 games for Bury in the beginning of his career before being acquired by Barnsley in 2018. By the end of his rookie season, he was a member of their winning team that had earned promotion.

Styles played with Barnsley for three seasons in the Championship, which is the highest level he has played at thus far, until Barnsley was relegated to League One.

He went on to play 22 games for Millwall, scoring one goal during that period.

Styles may not be with Barnsley for long.
He has made 13 appearances since returning to Barnsley ahead of the new campaign, scoring three goals, frequently playing in a more advanced midfield role than he did at Millwall.

His versatility, which he has displayed during his time in South Yorkshire, surely makes him a desirable target for other clubs.

With Barnsley, he has made 142 appearances and scored 13 goals overall. However, his contract with the Tykes expires at the conclusion of the following season, and he might leave as early as the middle of the current campaign.

Styles has 16 caps for Hungary at the international level, a country he is qualified to represent due to his grandparents. In March of last year, he made his debut for his chosen nation.
