Exclusive: Birmingham is topping hunt for a Scottish superstar as Blues fight for their first summer signing

Birmingham and several other Championship clubs are scouting Scottish teenage phenom Darryl Carrick, TEAMtalk can exclusively reveal.

The Blues sent scouts to witness the highly rated centre-back play for Queen Park U18s against St Mirren on Friday.

TEAMtalk sources have stated that a number of English and Scottish clubs are interested in Carrick, but Birmingham has been keeping a close eye on the precocious youth this season.

The teenager, who is on the margins of the first squad at Scottish Championship side Queens Park, has received high praise for his junior exploits.

Carrick’s tremendous potential has put him on the radar of several teams, but we believe Birmingham is eager to get a jump on their competitors by making an early offer for the centre back.

We understand he might be Birmingham’s first signing of the summer window if discussions go as planned.

Birmingham has a strong track record of nurturing young talent, and they regard Carrick as having enormous potential.

Some successful Blues academy graduates include Jude and Jobe Bellingham, Demarai Gray, and Nathan Redmond.

Queens Park are aware of the growing interest in Carrick and are preparing to receive interest and offers for the defender in the coming months.

It will be intriguing to see whether Tony Mowbray’s team can beat the competition for Carrick’s signature as interest in the kid grows.
