Ex-Lions DT dismissed by Arizona Cardinals after appearing in 11 games this season

The Arizona Cardinals dismissed Kevin Strong, a defensive tackle who spent parts of three seasons with the Detroit Lions.

In Arizona, Strong was a late-season cut. This season, he has participated in 14 games and made a career-high 11 starts for the Cardinals. In the game, the 27-year-old had 46 tackles, 2.5 sacks, five tackles for loss, three quarterback hits, and one fumble recovery.

The Lions signed the five-year veteran as an undrafted free agency out of Texas-San Antonio in 2019. During his stint with the Lions, he featured in 15 games, making one start. During that time, Strong had one sack and two hits on the quarterback. Strong was released early in the 2021 season, later joining the Tennessee Titans and spending the following two seasons with them.

Back in these parts, the Lions are getting healthier on the defensive line after making some difficult late-season moves of their own. They released veteran defensive tackle Isaiah Buggs and waved goodbye to practice squad pass rusher Bruce Irvin.

Alim McNeill is expected to return off injured reserve against the Minnesota Vikings this weekend. McNeill has been out with a knee sprain for the past month and could be a big help in the postseason.
