Ex Green Bay Packers WR Speaks Of The First Time He Discovered Who Aaron Rodgers “Really Was”

For many years, no Green Bay Packers player was more popular among fans than four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers.

Even with the 2023 squad, captained by Jordan Love, progressing to the playoffs, some still hold Rodgers in higher regard than current players. In some ways, it’s understandable. After all, Rodgers won a Super Bowl with the Packers and left a legacy of incredible throws and dominant offenses.

However, in recent years, an increasing number of fans have become disillusioned with Rodgers. Even while he was still with Green Bay, fans became tired of his backhanded remarks and conspiracy ideas on The Pat McAfee Show. Now that he’s with the New York Jets, even more people have abandoned the Aaron Rodgers hype train.

Rodgers’ appearances on The Pat McAfee Show have garnered millions of viewers and earned the future MVP millions of dollars on the side over the years. His future performances, however, were called into question this week after he made harsh statements about comedian Jimmy Kimmel, with whom Rodgers has a long-standing feud.

Rodgers implied last week that Kimmel’s name will be on the infamous Epstein List, which Kimmel disputed and replied to angrily on social media and on his own show. Rodgers’ statements alienated many more supporters, and his failure to apologize this week did not go unnoticed; yet, one of his former teammates was unsurprised by the situation.

Former Green Bay Packers Wide Receiver Greg Jennings Reveals the Moment Aaron Rodgers Showed Him Who He Really Was

Unlike Rodgers, who has been widely adored by Packers fans for many years, former wide receiver Greg Jennings has not. His departure from Green Bay in free agency after the 2012 season was not pleasant, and he did not have kind words for Rodgers on his way out.

As a result, fans avoided Jennings, and he remained disliked for over a decade. However, in recent years, Jennings has worked to make peace with the Packers supporters, and he was inducted into the Packers Hall of Fame in 2022.

In the aftermath of Rodgers’ recent comments about Kimmel and the fallout that has ensued, Jennings revealed to First Things First the moment he realized who Rodgers truly was as a person, and why none of the events surrounding the future Hall of Fame quarterback have surprised him:

“I really try to avoid having this conversation about Aaron because of how I exited Green Bay and what I said.” But I will say this: you find out who someone is when they show you. And then you look back at all that happened before you saw things differently.

“For me, it was when we were on the football field in Week One, and he comes up on the timeout and talks to an opponent and says, ‘Hey man, you guys should come and get Greg.'”

“I’m on contract this year, and we’re playing the 49ers.” I’m chatting to CB Carlos Rodgers, and he says, ‘Hey man, why they got you doing these routes?’ Aaron Rodgers approaches and says, ‘Hey, you guys should come get him.’

“What? You’re my man. You already know I want to stay here. You already know how much I want to be here. I’m not trying to relive or rehash all of this, but he showed me who he was in that moment. So, from that point forward, I saw everything that had transpired differently. Everything that transpired after that changed my perspective, since I now know who you are.

“You are self-centered. You were sending me, you were sacrificing me. I’m meant to be the guy for you. And, once again, I am not dissatisfied. In that moment and season of my life, I was really disturbed. I’m way over that.

“But when I hear things like this, it’s like here we go again.”
