Ex Georgia CB Signs With Penn State

During the 2023 recruiting cycle, Harris was a five-star recruit.

Penn State football has just added one of the biggest names from the transfer site.

According to Sean Fitz of Penn State On3, former Georgia defensive back A.J. Harris made the call for the Nittany Lions.

Harris played in seven games as a freshman for the Bulldogs, burning his redshirt. During his first season, he had eight total tackles against Florida, Ball State, and UT Martin. He didn’t record an interception or a PBU.

The Alabama native was one of the most sought-after recruits in the Class of 2023, receiving five-star status as the No. 27 national ranked prospect in 247Sports’ Composite ratings. He was Alabama’s top recruit and the No. 2 cornerback in the country. Andrew Ivins, a talent analyst, compared him to James Bradberry and said he possesses a “ideal size/speed combo.” A year as a member of Georgia’s defense machine couldn’t have hindered his growth either.

Martin’s pledge will provide a significant boost to the Nittany Lions’ secondary, which struggled severely against Ole Miss’ passing attack in the Peach Bowl. He’ll go a long way toward replacing the likes of Kalen King, Johnny Dixon, and Daequan Hardy, and he’ll have a quick chance to earn a starting job upon his arrival in Happy Valley.

With the additions of Julian Fleming to the receiver corps and now Harris to the secondary, James Franklin has provided fast answers to some of the offseason’s most pressing problems. Penn State is significantly benefiting from the transfer portal battle.
