Ex Browns first Rounder Joins New League

With their Wild Card game loss to the Houston Texans, the Cleveland Browns football club begins their lengthy offseason.

During this time, trades will begin to strengthen the roster and prepare for another playoff push in 2024.

This summer, fringe players seeking to make an NFL roster will compete in the United Football League (UFL).

The UFL is a new league that combines the XFL and the USFL.

Browns and NFL commentator Tony Grossi announced on Twitter that former Cleveland first-round selection Corey Coleman will play for the Michigan Panthers.

Coleman was the 15th overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft by the Browns following his college career at Baylor.

Coleman started 10 games as a rookie, totaling 33 receptions for 413 yards and three touchdowns.

In 2017, he recorded 23 receptions for 305 yards and two touchdowns.

Coleman then made a costly error in an episode of the HBO blockbuster series “Hard Knocks” taped in Cleveland during the 2018 preseason.

He complained about not getting first-team reps and requested a trade.

The Browns granted Coleman’s dream by trading him to the Buffalo Bills.

Coleman was then released by the Bills, signed by New England, waived by the Patriots, then signed by the New York Giants, where he had five receptions in 2018.

After being unable to commit to a franchise for the following four years, Coleman signed with the Philadelphia Stars of the United States Football League in 2023.

He topped the league in receiving yards (669), with 51 grabs and four touchdowns.
