Ex-Alabama RB helped the Lions in position for their ninth victory of the NFL season

For an NFL team that is winning for the first time in decades, he has become an exciting rookie to watch.

Former University of Alabama running back Jahmyr Gibbs has the Detroit Lions on track for their ninth victory in the National Football League this season. In the third quarter of Sunday’s game, Detroit and the Chicago Bears are tied at 13.

With a game-high 65 yards rushing on seven carries, Gibbs has been the Lions’ most impactful player.

He’s averaged 9.3 yards per carry, with a long run of 36 yards. Gibbs scored on a 12-yard run in the second quarter, cutting Chicago’s lead to 10-6. He also has one six-yard reception. Gibbs has six rushing touchdowns this season and has energized Detroit’s offense. Because of Gibbs’ contributions, the Lions currently lead the NFC North.

In 2022, he led the Crimson Tide in rushing with 926 yards and seven touchdowns. Gibbs also had 444 yards receiving and three touchdowns in the passing game. He scored 10 touchdowns in total to help Alabama win the Allstate Sugar Bowl.

Gibbs hopes to help the Lions make a strong playoff run.
