Ex 5-star defensive back Domani Jackson has committed to Alabama

Domani Jackson, the #5 overall recruit just two seasons ago, selected USC over Alabama and Michigan in a keenly watched recruiting battle.

The Mater Dei kid sustained a patella injury right before his rookie season and played mostly on special teams, but he was a full-time starter at corner for the Trojans in 2023. DB Coach Donte Williams’ departure from the squad to go to Georgia seems to be a big role in Jackson entering the portal.

The former top prospect had a rough rookie season, allowing 20 catches on 31 targets for 411 yards and two scores. Not bad, but also not fantastic. Of again, the entire USC defense was a flop, so who knows what to make of it.

Jackson is an amazing 6’1″ 190 pounds with an astounding 10.25s 100m dash (for comparison, NFL super freak wide receiver D.K. Metcalf ran a 10.37). He’s a top-tier NFL-level athlete who needs to take the next step in his development.

Alabama will almost certainly lose both Kool-Aid McKinstry and Terrion Arnold in the first round of the NFL draft, leaving the cornerback position open for a spring duel.
