Ipswich Town and Aston Villa appear to be the frontrunners in the battle to recruit Hull City winger Jaden Philogene, who Everton has also moved for.

Jaden Philogene, Everton’s transfer target, has met with his Hull City teammates as his future remains unknown.

The winger was expected to remain in the UK in preparation of a move away from Hull later this week. He has already headed to Turkey to meet with the Tigers players as part of their pre-season preparations.

Everton have made a bid to make the 22-year-old the club’s fourth summer signing, formally opening talks with Hull amid a crowded field of candidates.

The Blues believed a deal was conceivable, but Premier League rivals, including Ipswich Town, were also interested in signing the midfielder. The newly promoted club remains in a strong position, and they have already agreed to sign Philogene’s Tigers teammate, centre-back Jacob Greaves, who Everton has also expressed an interest in.

Aston Villa has since emerged as a possible destination, taking advantage of a clause allowing them to match Ipswich’s deal with Hull. Philogene is a former Villa academy star, and the option to match future bids for his services was included in the deal that saw him depart the Midlands for Humberside.

It is uncertain where Philogene will wind up, but the player has joined the Tigers in Riva, the home of the Turkish Football Federation and the location for the Championship team’s summer training camp.

Hull insiders claim they are willing to keep the England youth international if they are dissatisfied with how the campaign for his signature is going, according to Hull Live.
