ESPN: Tony Grossi Predicts Joe Flacco’s Future

After only six games in 2023, Joe Flacco has etched an indelible mark on Cleveland Browns history.

That brief appearance earned him the NFL Comeback Player of the Year Award and cemented his place in team history.

Not only did he win a lot of games, but he did so in an impressive manner.

Flacco provided the vertical throwing attack that Browns fans have long desired.

But if fans expect to see Flacco in orange and brown again, ESPN Cleveland’s Tony Grossi believes they will be disappointed (via Twitter).

Grossi told ESPN Cleveland’s “The Land on Demand” crew that he thinks Flacco will find a better position.

Furthermore, he believes the Browns’ leadership will breathe a sigh of relief when this occurs.

The longtime Browns insider believes a team will give Cleveland’s 2023 savior a larger role.

Grossi believes that after eight head coaching changes, someone will advocate for Flacco as a bridge quarterback.

Carrying a clipboard for Deshaun Watson’s offense will not be as appealing to Flacco as the opportunity to start.

That does not always work out, as Jacoby Brissett discovered in Washington last season.

Fans may expect that Watson will miss some games in 2024, but this is not consistent with his past.

Before the 2023 season, Watson has never missed an NFL game due to injury.

With considerable fan support, Grossi feels Kevin Stefanski and others aren’t interested in Flacco as a backup.

He wonders how many mediocre performances it would take for a quarterback controversy to break out.

Flacco will be an unrestricted free agent in March.
