EPL side is interested in signing of Ipswich Town winger

Newcastle United are interested in signing Ipswich Town’s left back Leif Davis.

Newcastle needed penalties to advance after conceding a late equaliser to draw the game 1–1.

The eventual triumph at least creates a slightly more upbeat atmosphere around the team than Saturday’s thumping at Arsenal.

Eddie Howe is still under pressure, but he may be considering summer additions, possibly a new left back.

Newcastle United wants Leif Davis.
Lewis Hall is on loan from Chelsea, although it is unclear whether he will stay on a permanent basis.

If Hall is not going to be Newcastle’s future left back, the Magpies may return to the market, with Ipswich Town’s Leif Davis on their radar.

According to TalkSPORT, Newcastle have joined West Ham United in monitoring Davis’ situation.

It is worth noting that Ipswich paid only £1.2 million to sign Davis from Leeds United in 2022, and they could easily command a large profit now.

Davis has established himself as one of the top offensive left backs outside of the Premier League, recording an incredible 28 assists in 78 appearances for Ipswich.

The 24-year-old may also be interested in the transfer, given that he was born in Newcastle.

Davis began his career at the renowned Wallsend Boys Club, which has housed Alan Shearer and other notable figures.

Newcastle did not sign Davis at an early age, instead sending him to Morecambe, but the Magpies are now witnessing him develop into a superb left defender.

Davis, a Newcastle season-ticket holder as a child, may find it tough to say no if Howe and co come calling this summer.
