EPL club winger ready to join Town

According to a story in Ecuador that TWTD can corroborate, Brighton winger Jeremy Sarmiento is set to join the Blues on loan after being recalled from a loan spell at West Brom.

Sarmiento, 21, joined the Seagulls from Benfica in 2021 and has made five Premier League starts and 14 substitute appearances.

The 13-cap Ecuador international, who can play wide or as a number 10, joined the Baggies on loan in July after signing a new contract with his parent club that runs until the summer of 2027.

Sarmiento made seven starts and 14 substitute appearances for the Hawthorns, scoring twice. Brighton announced his recall yesterday.

And, according to Ecuadorian writer Maria Jose Flores, Sarmiento’s move to the Blues will be finalized within the next few hours and may stretch into next season. According to our sources, the changeover will be rubber-stamped later today or tomorrow.

“Brighton interrupted Jeremy Sarmiento’s loan due to the few minutes he has had with West Bromwich,” her English-language tweet reads.

“The Ecuadorian remains one of Brighton’s major future projects, which is why they have already agreed on a new loan.”

“They will announce Sarmiento’s six-month contract with Ipswich Town, who are second in the EFL Championship, in the coming hours.”

“If they achieve promotion to the Premier League, the loan can be extended for another year, otherwise Jeremy will return to Brighton in June.”

Sarmiento, who was born in Madrid, relocated to London as a seven-year-old and spent time with Charlton’s junior system before joining Benfica in 2018.

Sarmiento represented England at the U16, U17, and U18 levels before committing his international career to Ecuador, for whom he qualifies through his parents.
