Enzo Maresca says in-form Leicester City striker ‘out for a while’ due to training injury

Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca has provided an update on Jamie Vardy, who sustained an injury during training ahead of their match against Leeds United on Friday night.

Leicester City appeared to be in the top two, but recent setbacks have left Leeds United and Ipswich Town only six points behind.

The setback at Elland Road earlier this week dealt a significant blow to Leicester City’s title chances, and to make matters worse, they were without their star player Vardy.

With four goals in his previous four games, he is one of the most in-form players in the Championship, but an injury in training means he could be out for an extended amount of time.

Manager Maresca told Leicestershire Live that he wasn’t sure how long he’d be unavailable, but it was likely to be ‘a while’.

“I don’t know. He will be out for a while. I don’t know exactly how long,” he said.

A blow but Leicester City have enough

Leicester City have had some ups and downs this season, but they are without a doubt the best team in the division. Regardless of whether Vardy is fit and available, they should have enough to cross the finish line and secure promotion.

Patson Daka, Tom Cannon, and Kelechi Iheanacho are among the Foxes’ options, all of whom would be eligible for most second-tier teams. As a result, they have plenty of options in Vardy’s absence.

Leicester City fans will be hopeful that this is not the last time they see their talismanic attacker. Now 37 and out of contract in the summer, supporters will be hoping he returns before the end of the season to assist them gain promotion and/or win the Championship trophy.
