Eagles v. 49ers: Two rookies elevated to practice squad

The 49ers made several roster changes on Saturday in preparation for the game this coming weekend.

The San Francisco 49ers announced on Saturday that they will be starting two players from the practice squad against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.

Chris Conley, a wide receiver, and Erik Harris, a safety, are being activated as regular practice squad elevations.

After star player Talanoa Hufanga suffered a season-ending injury last week against the Seattle Seahawks, the 49ers signed Harris to their practice squad.

The 49ers’ depth was further reduced when safety George Odum sustained a biceps injury that is expected to keep him out for several weeks.

Harris’ elevation means that Tashaun Gipson, Ji’Ayir Brown, and Harris will be the 49ers’ three available safeties on the active roster for Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Cornerback Isaiah Oliver stated that he would be prepared to fill in at safety should the team require him there due to the current depth concerns.
