Eagles acquire ex Saints practice squad receiver on…

Eagles sign former Saints practice squad receiver on a reserve/future deal.

The Saints will have their work cut out for them this offseason as they try to establish a contender for the upcoming season. Reserve/future contracts are part of that work, which will help shape their 90-man roster.

Their initial set of trades did not include wide receiver Shaq Davis, who is now on his way to Philadelphia to join the Eagles. Davis was undrafted from South Carolina State, an HBCU, but quickly became a fan favorite during the preseason. While he did not make the final roster, he did spend time on the practice squad last season.

He was placed on injured reserve with an unexplained ailment on October 9 and returned to the team on December 7. The team had great expectations for him, so it’s perplexing why they didn’t keep him.

Chris Olave and A.T. Perry are under contract with New Orleans for next season, as is Michael Thomas theoretically. His contract has empty years, and he could be leaving soon.

Rashid Shaheed is an exclusive rights free agent who will return, and that’s it for the receiving position. Kodi Burns was fired as wide receivers coach, and it appears that a lot will change for the Saints in 2024.
