Ipswich Town have signed defender Jacob Greaves from Hull City.

The 23-year-old has signed a five-year deal with Portman Road. Greaves will join his new teammates immediately as they prepare for a pre-season training in Austria this weekend.

Greaves came up through Hull City’s development system and spent the 2019/20 season on loan at Cheltenham Town. He made his league debut for Hull in October 2020 and has played in over 150 league games for the club.

His achievements last season earned him a berth on the Sky Bet Championship Team of the Season and Hull City’s Player of the Year award.

“I’m absolutely delighted to have signed,” Greaves added.

“When I learned about the interest, I was eager to complete the transaction. I’ve chatted with Kieran several times about tactics, playing style, and life off the pitch. Each conversation has been spot on. I’m excited to be moving up to the Premier League and can’t wait to get started.”

Kieran McKenna, Town Manager, expressed his excitement over the new signing.

“Jacob is an extremely gifted, technical, and athletic left-sided defender who has performed admirably in the Championship. He is prepared to make the move up to the Premier League, and we believe this is the ideal atmosphere for him to do so. He will provide great characteristics to the team and the culture we have established here.”
