According to sources, Ipswich Town will confirm the signing of Manchester City striker Liam Delap within the next 24 hours.

The Tractor Boys have agreed a fee with City for the 21-year-old, who spent the 2023-24 season on loan at Championship club Hull City, and he had a physical on Wednesday.

Kieran McKenna’s side will pay an initial £15 million for Delap, with an additional £5 million expected in add-ons.

Football Insider reported on July 2 that Manchester City would be willing to let the teenager depart permanently for the right price, with the club valuing him at roughly £20 million.

Ipswich won the hunt for his signature after being promoted, beating Southampton.

Ipswich have £20m Delap bid accepted

Delap had eight goals and two assists in 32 Hull appearances last season, 26 of which came as a starter.

The striker, who has two goals in five appearances for England’s Under-21 team, has previously had loan spells in the Championship with Derby and Preston.

He joined Manchester City’s development system in 2019 and has made six senior appearances, scoring once.

Delap is set to become Ipswich’s third signing of the summer, after Ben Johnson and Omari Hutchinson.

On August 17, the Tractor Boys will face Liverpool at Portman Road to begin their Premier League campaign.
