Done Deal: Birmingham City sign former Leicester City midfielder

Birmingham City have signed former Leicester City midfielder Ava Baker on a free transfer.

The Blues confirmed the news in a post on their official club website this evening.

Baker joins Birmingham City only days after leaving her last team. She signed a three-year contract with the Blues.

The midfielder progressed through Leicester City’s academy system before making her senior debut as a 16-year-old against Manchester City in the FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup in January 2022. Baker went on to make 19 appearances for The Foxes in the Barclays Women’s Super League, scoring her only league goal in a 1-0 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion during the 2022/2023 season.

Baker announced her departure from Leicester City last week and has now made the short trek across the Midlands to Birmingham.

After joining the Blues, Baker stated, “I’m really happy to be here and can’t wait to get started.” The Club’s aims are similar to mine, and I thrive on improving and succeeding not only for myself, but also for the team.

“I’m quite eager; new beginnings, and I can’t wait. I am anxious to meet everyone, play football, and do my thing.”

Baker is Birmingham City’s first signing in the summer transfer window.
