Ryan Allsop becomes Chris Davies first signing.

Blues have confirmed the signing of Ryan Allsop.

The 32-year-old goalkeeper arrives from Hull City for an unknown amount and has agreed to a three-year contract with Birmingham City.

The seasoned stopper returns to his hometown club after appearing in over 350 games over the course of a decade.

Comfortable with the ball at his feet, the six-foot-two-inch goalkeeper appeared 38 times for the Tigers last season, averaging more touches and passes than any other keeper in the Sky Bet Championship.

Allsop told BluesTV that he was excited to join Blues.

“I’m really excited to finish it. It feels like the right match for me at the right time, and I’m happy to be here.

“I immediately felt a connection to the project here, and I’m quite excited about it. Hopefully, I can assist the club get back to where it belongs.

“I’m a lifelong Birmingham City supporter, and as soon as I heard there was interest, I knew it was something I wanted to pursue. It is a club that is very important to me, and I can’t wait to get started.”

Despite his Blues links, Allsop advanced through the ranks at nearby West Bromwich Albion.

He began his professional career with Icelandic club Hottur at the age of 20, before returning to England for a six-month stint with Leyton Orient. Further loan spells at Coventry City, Wycombe Wanderers, Portsmouth, Blackpool, and Lincoln City brought extra first-team experience.

Allsop achieved promotion from Sky Bet League One with AFC Bournemouth in 2012/13 and was a key player of Wycombe’s progress to the second tier five years earlier.

Widely regarded as a proven Championship talent, he appeared in all but three Cardiff City games during the 2022/23 season before joining Hull City over a year ago.
