Doctor: Striker set to undergo West Ham medical if…

Striker set to undergo West Ham medical if necessary as £50 million transfer news leaks.

Brentford striker Ivan Toney should have no trouble clearing his medical at West Ham or elsewhere this summer, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

According to the injury expert, the England international’s lack of match fitness and rhythm, rather than an underlying issue, is to blame for him not looking sharp after returning from his ban.

The Hammers are reportedly competing with Manchester United and a number of other teams to recruit the 28-year-old, who is valued at £50 million by Brentford, according to Football Transfers on May 9.

In an exclusive interview with West Ham Zone, Brar, a Physical Therapist and Sports Scientist, said:

He hasn’t looked the same since returning from the ban and my educated guess would be the lack of match fitness and match rhythm rather than any sort of lingering injury.

“It takes considerable time to get up to speed even after missing a few matches, let alone the amount of matches that Toney missed.

Additionally, he was dropped into the season in the latter half which means higher intensity matches as well. Never easy to do that.

So, as there don’t appear to be any underlying injury issues, he’s expected to pass his medical.

Ivan Toney will be a good addition for West Ham this summer

Toney’s prospective transfer to the Hammers this summer would greatly improve their attacking options.

With 20 goals in 33 Premier League appearances last season, Toney established himself as one of the league’s top centre strikers.

His ability to routinely find the back of the net would be a benefit to any team looking to sign a great number nine.

The 28-year-old’s arrival will give West Ham a much-needed boost in the attacking line, perhaps filling the gap left by Michail Antonio’s age and injury problems.
