DK Metcalf speed: With a 73-yard touchdown against the Cowboys, a Seahawks wide receiver sets a record of the 2023 NFL season.

DK Metcalf fast is different from other types of fast.

If you watched the Seahawks vs. Cowboys “Thursday Night Football” game on television, you may have believed that Metcalf’s touchdown was being played on repeat.

After QB Geno Smith delivered the ball, Seattle’s top wide receiver destroyed Cowboys CB DaRon Bland on a post route. Metcalf showed off his breakaway speed, burning the Dallas secondary and chugging 73 yards for a house call.

Metcalf was running exceptionally fast, so that’s why it seemed that way.

Metcalf’s peak speed on the 73-yard touchdown was 22.23 miles per hour, according to the NFL’s Next Gen Stats. That is the fastest ball-carrier speed since Week 2 of the 2020 NFL season (Raheem Mostert, 23.09 mph).

In Week 5, Metcalf barely beat Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill (22.01 mph) to own the record for the fastest speed of the 2023 NFL season.

Naturally, Hill continues to hold the record for the fastest speed ever measured in the Next Gen Stats era. In 2016, he reached an incredible 23.24 miles per hour during a kickoff return.

Before Seattle’s primetime game, Metcalf made a point of trash talking in sign language as soon as he entered the end zone. This was a recent development.

DK Metcalf 40-yard dash time

Metcalf’s aggressiveness and quickness have garnered a lot of interest since his historic 2019 NFL combine.

Metcalf’s 40-yard dash time of 4.33 is the fastest by any player over 225 pounds in NFL history, even though it was only the fourth fastest in his class.

DK Metcalf height and weight

At 6-4 and 235 pounds, Metcalf is listed.

He only trails Dolphins wide receiver Chase Claypool (238 lbs.) as the heaviest wide receiver in the NFL this season.
