Disappointed Mark Robins makes a ‘false position’ accusation following defeat to Birmingham City

It was a tough watch for Coventry City boss Mark Robins as his side fell to a hefty defeat at St Andrew’s.

Following his side’s humiliating 3-0 defeat at St Andrew’s, Coventry City manager Mark Robins said that his team lacked the fighting spirit required to unsettle Birmingham City.

The Sky Blues’ hopes of making the play-offs have dwindled in recent weeks, and the outcome against their local rivals could be the last straw.

Speaking after the game, Robins was quick to point out where his side fell short against Gary Rowett’s Blues.

He stated: “They took the lead and we never got going, and then we got an opportunity with Haji lifting the ball over the goalie and having it go in – we talk about moments in games, and that changed the momentum again and would have placed concerns in their minds.

“But we didn’t establish that and didn’t get our supporters engaged, which was quite disappointing since we couldn’t keep the ball.

“And, let’s be honest, they have better players than their league position and are completely in the wrong position. But they battled for everything, and no matter what we say, we need to get the basics right, which we failed to accomplish in any case.

“We knew that it was going to be a scrap and a fight and we just didn’t do that well enough, defended really poorly and didn’t attack well enough; gave the ball away too much.”
